this week is about Pineapple, yes pineapple. Pineapple contains in is juices, Bromelain, a proteolytic enzyme that inhibits swelling, pain in joints and muscles. Binds to partially digested proteins that initiate the antibody-antigen immune response, thus broadly decreasing inflammation.
So for people with fibromyalgia and arthritis eat more Pineapple.

I am thinking Monday's are just to busy for me to get the Herb of the Week up. So I think starting today I will be posting Herb of the week on Tuesday's.
Feverfew is the herb of the week, called sometimes as the migraine reliever. This flowering herb looks just like a large daisy. But looks can be deceptive. Feverfew contains a unique combination of active plant chemicals making it the herb of choice for migraine and arthritis sufferers. Interestingly, it re- emerged as a popular remedy only in the 1970's.

This week herb is Kava kava great for those summer time stress of family and feeling tired because of all the summer time activities.
Kava kava is used to soothe the nerves, counteract fatigue and weight loss, and treat rheumatism. it has been tested against drugs such as valium in cases of anxiety and the result have been very impressive.

sorry to be so late. however, I hope you all had a great Memorial day. This weeks herb is Lily of the valley.
Lily of the valley is a diuretic, heart tonic and helps lower blood pressure. The active compounds within the herb are similar to those found in Digitalis purpurea, the source of the heart drug digitoxin. Lily of the valley is prescribed for functional heat problems since it is milder in action and safer to use.

sorry for being a day late, but here is some herbs for chronic fatigue syndrome.
Siberian Genseng, this herb supports adrenal function and bolsters resistance to stress.
Echinacea, is a well known to enhance immune function.
Licorice, delays the body's removal of cortisol, an adrenal hormone that tents to be low in those with chronic fatigue syndrome. because of this you only what to take for six week and no longer.
Lemon Balm, fights several viruses, including the herpes simple virus, which has been suspected of contributing to chronic fatigue syndrome.
St John's Wort, improves appetite and energy levels and calms anxiety.
Valerian, helps sleep if you are having problems with this.

since summer is on its way.( I hope). this week is about herbs that helps with sunburns.
Course everyone knows about Aloe, the gel from the inside of this plants leaves reduces inflammation, soothes burn pain, fights bacteria, and speeds healing.
Calendula, is anti-inflammatory, astringent, antiseptic, cooling, and wound healing.
Comfrey, both the leaves and root of this plant contain allantoin, which speeds healing of burned skin.
Lavender, the essential oil of this flower relieves pain ad enhances the healing of burns.
Gotu kola, a compounds in this plant stimulates collagen synthesis to help repair skin. it also reduces scarring from burns.
Tea, both green and black teas re rich in antioxidants and cooling to sunburns. the suns ultraviolet ray produce free radicals in the skin. Tea's antioxidants can mop up these free radicals to helps prevent damage to tissues.
Hopefully these herbs will help this year if you have any kinds of burns.

This week is about Menopause, the change, whatever you want to call it. It has many symptoms, and can be a real pain in the butt. there are many herbs and vitamins that you can take to help you through this difficult time in a women's life. Vitex-the compounds in the berries of this plant act on the pituitary gland to stabilize the hormone fluctuation. Red raspberry strengths the uterus, stops hemorrhages, decreases excess menstrual flow, and increases deficient flow. Licorice root works to control water retention, breast tenderness, and carbohydrate cravings. St. John's Wort is a well known mood lifter and antiviral herb that boots the brain function and fight anxiety and depression. There are many other herbs out there however, these are the best ones.

since spring is here and time for planting, I thought that some herbs to plant with veggie gardens would be nice.
Sage with Broccoli, cabbage, and cauliflower to repel cabbage moths and black flea beetles.
Hyssop with cabbage and kale to deter cabbage moths.
marigold with tomato help repel nematodes, aphids, whiteflies, and hawk moths
Chervil with radishes and carrots improves the flavors of the root crops.
Chives with carrots and tomatoes to improve the flavors of the crops.
Garlic with rose, deters the tiny bright green aphids that can infest roses.
Hope this helps you all with pest.

This week is about Turmeric, Most say that turmeric is one of the most versatile of all herbal healers. It is a medium strength herb with virtually no side effects. It soothes stomachs; treats myriad skin condition, such as acne, dermatitis and psoriasis; tames oxidation; and relieve pain. In fact as little as 1/4 teaspoon a day has measurable healing effects. be careful however that is does not stain your hands when handleing Turmeric with its yellow dyeing effects. Allergy season is upon us, for those of you that are suffering, I am right there with you. But don't lose heart there is some herbs out there that can help you deal with the eye watering, itchiness, chest congestion and nasal congestion.
Stinging nettle with Brigham leaves made into a tea work wonders, also Green tea, white tea and Rooibos tea(red tea). Ginger, Turmeric, goldenseal, catnip, and peppermint. Do not try them all at once, try one for a week or two and see if it helps relieve some of the symptoms, then move on. Hopefully this helps you in some way. Remember I carry all of these herbs and can make capsules as well as tincture for you. If all else fells there is always the shot that my husband goes and gets, and if you don't want that. stay inside with a good book and pray for rainy days.
